Tierboskloof at a glance

Located along The Old Road in the Scott Estate area in Hout Bay at the very top of Baviaanskloof, lies the magnificent Tierboskloof Estate. Bought on auction in 1928 by entomologist Sydney Skaife, and later sold to developers in 1990, Tierboskloof Estate was built on nature reserve land and was carefully designed to minimise its impact on the natural surroundings, while maintaining its magnificent mountain position. Each home on the estate was designed and inspired to be in harmony with nature and as a result, are all surrounded by indigenous flora. Many of the homes also enjoy unspoiled mountain and ocean views. Tierboskloof residents can indulge in using the tennis court and full-sized squash court (complete with changing room facilities), and there is also a communal saltwater swimming pool located beside the famous Skaife Cottage. Within the estate grounds is an Afromontane Forest, one of the select few in the Western Cape that includes many rare indigenous trees with an impressive 8 200 plant species of which approximately 80% are fynbos. Many of these are considered to be endemic. Multiple streams flow down from the mountain, attracting an abundant variety of wildlife, including rare birdlife such as Black Eagles, Spotted Eagle Owls and even Sunbirds. With 24-hour controlled security access, guard patrols via golf carts as well as an efficient perimeter camera monitoring system, Tierboskloof Estate ensures the safety and security of its residents. The allure of Tierboskloof reaches beyond its secure borders and into the surrounding Hout Bay valley. As a celebrated former fishing village, Hout Bay has kept this unique rustic charm and blended it with many exciting activities and festivities on offer to residents and visitors alike. Home to glorious golden beaches with clear blue waters, Hout Bay also offers many schools, celebrated landmarks, tourist attractions, wine farms and countless popular restaurants. Other activities in the area include hiking, cycling and even horse riding trails. Those living in Tierboskloof Estate can also enter into the Hout Bay area using the famously stunning Chapman's Peak Drive via Llandudno and Camps Bay and can also use this same route when travelling into the heart of Cape Town's dynamic CBD. Within short driving distance from the estate is the renowned Hout Bay harbour which hosts the popular Bay Harbour Market, and nearby are the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens, Constantia Nek and the Constantia Wine Route among others. Home to a choice of mountain trails and hikes that lead through indigenous forest and natural waterfalls, Tierboskloof Estate is an enchanting world of its own and yet still close enough to the centre of Cape Town, leaving no surprise as to why it's a highly sought-after location for locals and visitors alike.
